Are you a fan of Taco Bell but have dietary restrictions? Dietary restrictions like celiac disease or gluten sensitivity? So hey gluten free enthusiasts and my foodie friends! What’s the hesitation all about to step-in at Taco Bell? I can help you find some amazing dishes from their menu to be served on your table. Don’t step back! Instead, follow me up.
But, but but! Before we move forward, let’s address the elephant in the room. Taco Bell has a good range of delish that are gluten free. I mean, there are some dishes that don’t use any ingredients containing gluten. But, they are not certified as gluten free. And of course they don’t have any separate kitchen to prepare these gluten free dishes. They share the same kitchen environment along with the necessary utensils. So of course, risks and chances of cross contamination are high. However, step-in into this place at your own risk. I am here to help you out to know some amazing delicious dishes. But whether to consume it or not, that’s all in your hands, relative to your sensitivities.
Anyways, I won’t recommend any celiac patient to even think of trying this out because “YOUR HEALTH IS YOUR MAJOR WEALTH.” But yeah for the ones who are gluten sensitive and can bear some amount of gluten, they may take this judgment as per their own call.
CELIAC FRIENDLY OPTIONS
The only available options for celiac patients at Taco Bell includes;
- Fountain drinks- Dole, Brisk, Gatorade, etc
- Freezes- Island Strawberry, Island Blue Raspberry, Mountain Dew Baja Blast, and Wild Strawberry
- Coffee- Black Coffee, Hot Cinnabon Delights, Iced Coffee, and Iced Cinnabon Delights
GLUTEN FREE OPTIONS ON THE MENU
Options to have dishes, that too the ones free of gluten. So yeah you have some dishes where the ingredients are basically not the ones having gluten. But again, as the same kitchen and utensils are being used, so of course chances of cross contamination is high.
Well, the gluten free dishes includes;
- Black beans and rice
- Crunchy Tacos
- Supreme Crunchy Tacos
- Power Bowls
- Doritos Locos Tacos
TACOS- The Crunchy Tacos are made with corn Tortillas. Hence, they do not contain gluten in it. However, one still needs to go for the Crunchy Tacos rather than the soft ones, as their main ingredient is wheat, having gluten in it. Other than that, despite being a gluten free ingredient dish, it has high chances of contamination due to the usage of the same cooking environment.
DORITOS- This can be used as snacking. But consuming only Doritos is okay, not having it with Nachos Cheese sauce as they contain gluten in it.
POWER BOWLS- The Taco Bell Power Bowls includes protein, chicken or steak as per the choice, a bunch of veggies along with some rice. Considering these ingredients, yeah! It sounds to be gluten free. But again you need to be sure that none of such ingredients, even a bit of it is added in this Power Bowl that has gluten in it.
DISHES THAT AREN’T GLUTEN FREE
Dishes other than the ones mentioned in the gluten free section are all non-gluten-free. Some of those dishes are mentioned below, which includes;
- Soft Tacos
- Quesadillas
- Burritos
- Rolled Tacos
- Nachos
- Mexican Pizza
- Crunchy Wraps
- Nachos Fries
- Fiesta Potatoes
- Cinnamon and Strawberry Twist
- Cinnabon Delights
CINNAMON TWIST- As the main base ingredient of Cinnamon Twist is wheat flour, it is not considered as a gluten free dish.
MEXICAN PIZZA- Pizzas, as everybody knows are made with all purpose flour. And so is this one too. So yeah definitely not an option to be considered as gluten free.
NACHOS FRIES- Well, considering that the fries are made out of potatoes. So yeah potatoes are naturally gluten free. However, these potatoes are seasoned with spices and flour. So the flour used in it is not gluten free. Ultimately making this dish not a gluten free one.
Other than these. all the dishes either wraps, quesadillas, nachos, burritos, they all are made with wheat flour being their base ingredients. Hence, can’t consider it to be a gluten free dish.
GLUTEN FREE SAUCES AND SALSAS
If we talk about sauces, the main thing is that mostly the sauces have added starch or yeast in them along with spices for flavors. And these are the ingredients having gluten in them. For sure not preferable to consume for the ones having gluten sensitivities. It’s better to avoid rather than facing any consequences.
But still, there are some sauces and salsas which tend to be made with the ingredients not having gluten in them. But again one same thing which I will repeat. The same kitchen and utensils are being used so there are definitely chances of cross contamination there. Well, the following are considered for not having any gluten ingredients in them;
- Mild Sauce
- Hot Sauce
- Avocado Ranch Sauce
- Creamy Chipotle Sauce
- Creamy Jalapeno Sauce
- Red Sauce
- Spicy Ranch Sauce
GLUTEN FREE SIDES
As sidelines, the gluten free options available at Taco Bell includes;
- Black Beans
- Guacamole
- Refried Beans

CONCLUSION
In conclusion, though Taco Bell is not certified as gluten free, it still caters to the one having these dietary restrictions. However, now it is the work of an individual how they take care of themself. As Taco Bell is not certified gluten free so there is no certain limit mentioned and followed as per FDA for gluten. So before you step up there and order something to eat, make sure you are aware of each and every aspect. And this majorly includes being very aware of the fact that shared kitchen is being used for both gluten free dishes and the ones made with gluten.
